The Coordinator-Billing serves as a liaison between LLUH and our satellite sites related to business operations and clinical coordination to ensure essential processes for authorization, billing and patient referrals.
Travels daily to satellite site to coordinate, assess and monitor authorizations, pick up billing information, including billing sheets, and to coordinate referrals.
Accurately posts patient encounter information for physician billing to individual patient accounts in billing system.
The data to include by not limited to, provider, billing area, place of service and ICD/CPT with appropriate modifier(s) based of payer type and following payer guidelines.
Works on edits in conjunction with FPBO.
Works and completes RQI's.
Makes daily deposits of co-pays collected in clinic.
Works under the direction of the ED/Administrator to monitor the quality of the work produced emphasizing completeness, accuracy and customer service satisfaction.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Associate's Degree or higher preferred.
Minimum three years hospital-based registration experience specializing in managed care, Medi-Cal, Medicare and California Children's Services (with emphasis on Federal, state and County eligibility regulations and requirements) required.
Minimum two years of working with Oncology patients preferred.
Previous posting or billing experience with CPT and CD coding preferred.
Valid driver's license required at time of hire.
Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT codes and medical insurance required.
Knowledge of both in-patient and out-patient settings preferred.
Must be able to identify and contain any deficiencies in maintaining PHI and complying with HIPAA guidelines and compliance.
Able to write legibly, speak English with professional quality; enter/edit data in computer; proficient at keyboarding using Microsoft Office, IDX, Cerner and Power Chart (LLEMR).
Use/operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required; keyboard 50 words per minute without errors.
Able to relate positively, effectively and professionally with others; be consistent in following policies; work calmly and respond courteously under changing circumstances; teach and collaborate; accept direction; work with staff and others; maintain patient confidentiality and a positive, supportive attitude toward patients, their families, co-workers and staff.
Able to collate information for case reports and databases; interpret and understand patient records and various reports including (diagnostic procedures, pathology, radiation and chemotherapy); think critically; problem solve; make sound decisions; work well under pressure; organize and prioritize workload effectively; recall information with accuracy and pay close attention to detail; assess, evaluate, analyze data; able to communicate effectively in English, in writing, in person/phone; work with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions.
Able to distinguish colors as necessary, write, hear, and speak sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens and written documents necessary to the position.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
